Steven Bouma-Prediger examines four of the main arguments which constitute the ecological complaint against Christianity. More exactly, the author presents and rebuts the claims that Christianity is responsible for contemporary ecological degradation because it (1) understands dominion as domination, (2) fosters ecologically unhealthy dualisms, (3) has a creation-negating eschatology, and (4) has played a pivotal role in the rise of modern Western science and technology. Dr. Bouma-Prediger is Professor in the Religion Department at Hope College.
