Dale E. Soden and Kathleen H. Storm examine the merits of postmodern foundations for the multicultural movement, while critiquing the reliance of many Christian thinkers on modernist assumptions. Their conclusion, while acknowledging the significant challenges of postmodernism to a Christian worldview, credits postmodernism (and its influence on the multicultural agenda) for emphasis on community and tradition as epistemological sources beyond the self. Dr. Soden is a member of the history department at Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington; Dr. Storm teaches psychology and is Vice President for Student Life at Whitworth.
