According to Nancey Murphy, many of the conflicts between liberal and conservative theology are the result of different reactions to modern philosophical positions. Insofar as Christian theologians make use of new "postmodern" philosophical resources, much of the discord should be surmountable. The philosophical work of Alasdair MacIntyre provides valuable resources for postmodern evangelical theology. Dr. Murphy is Associate Professor of Christian Philosophy at Fuller Theological Seminary.
