This article explores the idea of religious drama inspired by Kierkegaard's view of indirect communication. Kierkegaard's authorship attempts to awaken a capacity, enable a how, not to teach a what. This article explores whether drama might do the same thing, in particular whether it can indirectly communicate the passion of faith. Gene Fendt is finishing a book entitled Is "Hamlet" a Religious Drama? Mr. Fendt teaches philosophy at the University of Nebraska, Kearney.
