Foundations for Post-Cold War International Justice: Creation, Polyarchy and Realism

Lawrence Adams

Lawrence Adams examines three competing approaches to analysis of the international system: political "realism"; various "world order" and "integration" models; and "international polyarchy," an attractive intermediary paradigm. Polyarchy is a promising framework but lacking in sufficient justification to be adopted; it nevertheless offers goals for international politics which promise proximate justice in a post-Cold War international structure. Mr. Adams is Senior Fellow with the Postmodernity Project at the University of Virginia.
