Faculty, Who Do You Say That I Am?

Robert Wall

Recently, the role the interpreter performs in contributing to the full meaning of Scripture has come to the forefront in discussions of biblical interpretation. While biblical texts have always been interpreted, some now argue that the meaning made of these texts is in constant flux due to the various interests, changing social locations and different faith traditions of their current readers. To illustrate this point, guest editor Robert Wall of Seattle Pacific University gathered a diverse community of faculty colleagues around a common gospel story to reflect together on the Jesus they encounter there. The illuminating result is this Faculty Forum and the textured interpretation of this story's witness to Jesus it enshrines.
