Reflection and Response: The Elusive Idea of Christian Scholarship

Michael S. Hamilton

The Council for Christian Colleges and Universities sponsored the 2001 Forum on Christian Higher Education, February 2-9, 2001, in Orlando, Florida. During one workshop for Chief Academic Officers, panelists discussed "The Elusive Nature of Christian Scholarship." Mike S. Hamilton, Assistant Professor of History, Seattle Pacific University presented a paper on this topic followed by three respondents: Joel A. Carpenter, Provost, Calvin College; Dorothy F. Chappell, Dean of Natural and Social Sciences, Wheaton College; and Don W. King, Professor of English (and immediate past Vice President and Dean of Academics), Montreat College. This "Reflection and Response" summarizes the workshop, offering valuable insights into the issue of Christian scholarship.
