One of the key components of any approach to moral formation involves the formation of a personís identity. People act morally in order to avoid betraying their sense of selfhood. Here Perry L. Glanzer and Todd C. Ream propose a Christian understanding of identity and identity formation that can assist Christian colleges and universities in shaping the moral character of their students. They also argue that the general education efforts at Christian colleges and universities influence the identity of students and that the fostering of Christian identity through such academic offerings might be strengthened. Mr. Glanzer is Assistant Professor of Education at Baylor University and Mr. Ream is Director for the Aldersgate Center at Indiana Wesleyan University.
